Melissa Brittain and her brother Sean

Melissa and Sean raised an incredible £721 for World Cancer Research Fund by doing a skydive.

We wanted to mark the anniversary of our grandmother’s death from lung cancer by raising as much money as possible for a good cause, and when we saw World Cancer Research Fund’s cancer prevention recommendations it seemed a perfect fit.

It was actually my brother’s idea to do a skydive. Some of our friends had already done one for charity, and they said how amazing it was – they were so right!

You’re actually only falling for about two minutes, and the freefall itself is about 45 seconds. It’s really difficult to explain what is going through your mind – it’s an odd experience, but it couldn’t have been too bad because as soon as we landed we looked at each other and said that we’d like to do it again!

Looking back now, I’m so pleased that we did it. We wanted to do something exciting to raise money in memory of our grandmother, and we did!
